His Silent Struggle
Abdullahi, a 70-year-old man originally from Somalia and living in Canada, had been suffering from chest tightness and shortness of breath for months. He decided to visit Turkey for what he thought would be just a routine check-up.
A Critical Discovery
When he arrived, Safemedigo’s medical team immediately began cardiological investigations. The results were shocking: one of his main heart arteries was 95% blocked, and another was 85% closed. He needed emergency bypass surgery — his life was at risk.
Alone But Not Abandoned
Abdullahi had no family with him and not enough money to cover the surgery. In that moment, Safemedigo became his family. We worked with the hospital to start the surgery immediately, covering the urgent costs until his relatives could assist. The next day, his son arrived, relieved to find his father alive and recovering.
Unexpected Challenges
Soon after, Abdullahi developed complications — bleeding after catheter removal. Tests revealed an enlarged prostate with severe infection. Despite the risks of operating so soon after heart surgery, we stood by him through every decision. Even during public holidays, when many hospitals were closed, we found a way to secure urgent treatment in a university hospital, where a large blood clot was removed from his bladder.
Step by Step to Recovery
Finally, a date was set for prostate removal (HoLEP surgery). It was successful, and Abdullahi began to regain his health. Today, one year later, he lives a full life, thankful for the care he received.
More Than Just Medicine
Abdullahi’s story is not only about surgeries — it’s about compassion, family, and standing with patients when they have no one else. Safemedigo became his support system, staying by his side day and night.
